When selecting a diamond, its important to know what shape of Diamond you are looking for and what best suits your style.
Secondly, the quality of the diamond is important, the higher the grade the more expensive the diamond is going to be.
Internally Flawless (IF) Diamonds have no inclusions and minor blemishes under 10x power microscope
Very Very Slightly Included (VVS) Diamonds have small inclusions that are not visible to the naked eye and difficult for a skilled grader to see under 10x magnification.
Very Slightly Included (VS) Diamonds are fairly difficult (VS1) or fairly easy (VS2) to see under 10x magnification.
Slightly Included (SI) diamonds contain noticeable inclusions which are easy (SI1) and very easy (SI2) to see under 10X magnification. Some SI’s inclusions can be seen with the naked eye, in SI2. SI is a popular clarity grade range as it gives a good balance between price and quality. SI3 graded diamonds have inclusions that can be seen with the naked eye without magnification.
Included Diamonds Included (I1-I2) Many inclusions that are very visible to the naked eye (I1), very visible (I2), obvious (I3) you can see the inclusions without magnification. Included diamonds in this grade may effect durability. I2 and I3 diamonds have inclusions that can seriously affect the diamonds potential durability and are so numerous they affect transparency and brilliance of the diamond.
Diamond Color, this will also determine pricing of diamond as the color will play a very important factor. Fancy Yellow is also very beautiful, however it’s all a personal choice. As noted in the chart below D-E are colorless, G-J are near colorless to the naked eye. K-M diamonds show a slight yellow tint even to the naked eye. N – Z color grades are considered very light and light yellow. Diamonds in this color range show a very noticeable yellow, brown or gray color.
Lastly will be the carat weight of the diamond and this has a direct impact on the price. Remember to select what is best fitting and most suitable for you. Chart below is just a guide and actual size may vary due to monitor settings.
